When Physical Intimacy Is Painful But Your Libido Tells You Otherwise…

If being physically intimate is painful, then you may want to explore other options.  Lubrication can go a long way and make things more comfortable, but if traditional intercourse isn’t your thing, don’t sweat it.

According to an article on psychologytoday.com, “Sex without intercourse may sound disconcerting. It requires some effort, adjustments on the part of both lovers—and change is never easy, especially in the erotic repertoire. But if you find intercourse problematic, sex without it allows hot, fulfilling lovemaking for life.”

What does sex without intercourse look like? Believe it or not, words that come to mind include fun, easy, playful, connected, intimate, erotic, etc.  By focusing on enjoying your own body and your lovers body you can get really creative.  Massage, oral sex, vibrators, skin-on-skin contact, bubble baths and shower fun… and so much more to explore!

By changing things up, you actually stimulate the release of dopamine which increases erotic intensity and may make your perception of intimacy even deeper!

That psychologytoday.com article also notes that three-quarters of women need direct clitoral stimulation to experience orgasm.  Hear that?  Most women do not climax during classic sex.  So, if you’re feeling weird about doing everything but intercourse, stop – reframe that stinking thinking and empower yourself by taking your pleasure potential into your own hands!

Sex without intercourse may feel more satisfying, but you’ll never know if you don’t try! Ready, set, go…
